Girl, 5, in boat killed by jumping sturgeon along Suwannee
Jaylon Rippy died after being struck by a leaping sturgeon on the Suwannee River in Dixie County. Her mother, Tanya, was also injured, as was her 6-year-old brother. GOFUNDME
State wildlife officials say Jaylon Rippy died after being struck on Thursday night, and her mother and brother were injured. This is the first fatality ever from a sturgeon strike on the Suwannee River.

Joe Henderson I know one thing for sure. This column will be incomplete. The life of Gerald “Pat” Patterson can’t be fully captured in the space I have. Saturday is his 90th birthday — born on the Fourth of July, of course.
