Riverwalk rolls out 5 mph speed limit for bicycles
Tampa has put up signs on the 1.8-mile Riverwalk warning bicyclists to keep it at or below 5 mph. “It's faster than people think,” says the city's public affairs director, Ali Glisson.
After complaints from pedestrians, the city is putting the brakes on bicyclists who are moving too fast and endangering families and people walking dogs on the Riverwalk.
“This isn’t a problem that we can prosecute our way out of,’’ U.S. Attorney Lee Bentley said. ELAINE SILVESTRINI/STFF
