Corporate Social Responsibility at TBO
Giving back to the community has always been a key focus at TBO from the beginning, and as we continue to grow our businesses across product line and geographies it remains our priority.
The group has been involved in several Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives over the years and have been doing well we can to promote education, tech literacy, hygiene and personal care etc. in India, some of which are featured below:
TBO launches its Eyecare Initiative in partnership with Aster Opticals UAE
TBO.COM announced the launch of a CSR initiative created for its customers - a healthcare campaign with ‘Eyecare’ being the focus, considering the Travel agents especially Bookers spend long working hours on screen. In UAE company has partnered with leading eyewear brand, Aster Optical who have started to conduct free eye camps at large Travel Agents’ offices during Ramadan. The partnership also entails free eye checks and consultation along with exclusive offers at their stores for all TBO customers. Aster also offered eyecare products at discounted rates.
This first-time initiative in the travel industry includes a year-round awareness campaign highlighting the importance of eyes and eyecare across marketing channels and in-platform. Similar partnerships with leading eyecare brands are now being explored in APAC & Europe.
TBO Cares initiative: Central Marketing team's day out at Harmony House
On 14th February 2024, the Central Marketing team visited Harmony House, a non-profit organization in Gurgaon.
Harmony House provides a safe and nurturing educational space for children and women from nearby underprivileged areas. To support the noble cause, TBO made a humble donation of 75 kilograms of grains and pulses along with 100 units of single-ruled notebooks & pens.
The team spent the day with the children, participating in school activities, learning and playing with them, sharing their small victories, and bringing a smile to their faces.
TBO creates the biggest Sports Tournament for Travel Agents
TBO Cup created and powered by TBO.COM has announced an array of sponsors for its latest edition. While Royal Caribbean International continues its support by being the Presenting Sponsor this year, Oman Experience will be the Associate Sponsor along with TBO’s learning and marketing platform – TBO Academy. Support sponsors include Philippines Airlines, Jazeera Airways and Air Canada while TTN remains the Media Sponsor.
In addition to Cricket, a Football tournament has also been added in parallel this year thus catering to the sports-loving Travel Bookers community. The double tournament will be conducted at UAE’s premier indoor sports venue – U Pro Sports, Al Qouz, Dubai on 10th December 2023. Over 200 Travel Agent partners have confirmed on what promises to be a ‘all day-fun day ’event with attractive prizes to be won including Air and Hotel vouchers from its partners.
TBO hosts 5-star Iftars for Travel Agents across 6 countries
TBO.COM, the word's leading travel distribution platform hosted a series of TBO Iftars for its most valued customers - Travel Agents - across UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Malaysia and Indonesia. While the Iftars in UAE were sponsored by their strategic partner - Saudi Tourism Authority, the events at Kuwait and Qatar were sponsored by the Hilton Group.
Over 750 Travel Agents owners & Bookers attended the events across 7 cities which includes Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Baku, Kuala Lampur & Jakarta. Summing up, V.K.Balaji, General Manager & Chief Strategy Office commented ' A large percentage of our customers practice Ramadan across key markets and based on the success we have had so far, we look forward to scaling this to other centres as well next year'.
TBO partners with Companies of Good & Dubai Municipality for Desert Clean-up initiative
TBO recently partnered with Companies of Good and Dubai Municipality to kick- start their TBO Cares series of CSR initiatives across the world. Realizing the shocking fact that the daily wastage per person is 2kgs per day in UAE is considerably high and unlike the city, deserts are littered with trash. 25 TBOans from across the globe cleaned up part of the desert with a purpose. The results were - 150 kgs of trash collected within an hour!
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD)
IITD is a premier research and engineering institute that, inter alia, undertakes innovative research activities in various fields through its faculties. TBO sponsored 4 (four) undergraduate students’ travel cost for attending various educational conferences/ seminars.
Interglobe Foundation
InterGlobe Foundation, a non-government company based out of Delhi focuses on culture & heritage preservation, environment protection and livelihood promotion of various sections of people in different geographies of India. The funds contributed by TBO were utilised to register the potential beneficiaries on an online course and provide preliminary counselling to help them learn the skill.
Smile Foundation
Smile Foundation, a public charitable trust, based out of Delhi, is a national level development organization working in the field of education, health, livelihood, and women empowerment. TBO contributed towards improving accessibility and retention of children in Community Based Organization (CBO) and helped in upgrading basic numeracy and literacy skills of children in identified location in Surya Vihar, Gurugram through the selected CBO.
Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya
Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya, run on the residential Gurukul system, imparts traditional and vocational education to girls with an impetus on musical abilities. TBO aided Mahavidyalaya in providing vocational training to its students which generates employment opportunities for them. Music instructors were appointed for providing free vocational training to the students.
Sewa Bharti
Sewa Bharti works towards aiding education, skill development, women empowerment, and improving health in the socially & economically weaker sections of society. The funds contributed by TBO were utilised by Sewa Bharti towards running a medical center in JJ Cluster of Nut Colony, Mehirawali, Chatterpur and Ambedkar colony and in providing free general OPD services.
Bhartiya Jansewa Sansthan (BJS)
BJS is engaged in improving the standard of living, providing education, and creating livelihood in the tribal, rural, and slum areas across India. TBO provided funds to BJS for the following purposes:
- Construction of Shri Rajeshwar Mohan Joshi Upper Primary School in the Kharekhadi village, City- Pushkar, Rajasthan.
- Construction of boundary walls and hostel area of the Kalyan Seva Kendra at Dharanidharpalli, District- Sundargarh, Odisha.
Center for Excellence in Energy and Telecommunication (IIT MADRAS)
IIT Madras focuses on technology development in energy sector and its commercialization for benefit of public at large. IIT Madras, conducts research and development (“R&D”) in areas including Renewable Energy (“RE”), decentralised power systems, Electric Vehicles (“EV”) etc. TBO funded the preparation of the course by IIT Madras on RE and EV for students with any engineering background, giving them a good grasp of not only the technology but also the economics for wide deployment of the technology.
