A Tarpon Springs man was arrested Monday night after deputies say he fired shots at the suspect in the fatal shooting of a Tarpon Springs police officer.
Jareem Roach, 24, fired shots toward the roadway as Marco Parilla was fleeing from the scene following the fatal shooting of Charles Kondek, according to the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office.
According to reports, Roach fired the shots at the Glen’s Eureka Apartments early Sunday morning because he believed Parilla was there to confront him.
Investigators say Roach was cooperative when they contacted him at the Royal Palm Inn, 6523 U.S. 19 N. in New Port Richey.
The weapon has not been recovered, deputies say.
Roach was arrested on a charge of being a felon in possession of a weapon, and an unrelated charge of failing to appear in Hillsborough County court for driving wtihout a valid driver’s license.
