Hillsborough Sheriff: Double homicide at apartment, suspect in custody

TAMPA — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double homicide after discovering the bodies of a woman and a boy in an apartment Sunday evening.

About 6:47 p.m., Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said authorities received a 911 call from a man, saying he’d been in an altercation at the Mariner’s Cove Apartments. Deputies responded to the call at 4302 Mariners Cove Ct., Apt. 104 where they found the bodies of a 34-year-old woman and 10-year-old boy.

Chronister said the caller had been taken into custody, but did not provide details about the manner of death or identities of the suspect or his victims.

"All we know is a male caller called the sheriff’s office frantic, advising he was involved in this domestic dispute and we have two people who have succumbed to their injuries and died here this evening," Chronister said.

Chronister said the victims and the suspect lived together in the apartment, but he did not have details about the relationship.
