Tampa police are investigating two shooting deaths that happened early Monday and appear to be unrelated, police said.
The first shooting happened around midnight in the 3100 block of North Jefferson Street, police said. Officers arrived at the home and found Lyfe Coleman, 18, of Tampa, lying on the ground in the front yard. Coleman was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he died, police said.
The second shooting happened outside an apartment building in the 8700 block of Del Ray Court just before 6 a.m., police said.
Officers found James Strouse, 51, of Tampa, lying on the ground unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said. Strouse died at the scene.
The shootings do not appear to be random acts of violence, police said.
Police are interviewing witnesses to identify suspects.
