TAMPA - Deputies have identified the victim of a homicide reported Monday in the Lake Egypt Estates neighborhood.
Micheline G. Messersmith, 68, was the woman found dead inside her home at 3024 W Patterson Street, near ZooTampa at Lowry Park, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
However, deputies did not release any other information about the case, including the cause of death and the identity of the 911 caller who they said found the body at about 3:20 p.m. Monday.
Deputies canvased the neighborhood late into the night, cordoning off the intersection of West Patterson and Lakeside Boulevard with crime scene tape until about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Neighbors were asked to review home surveillance video for any suspicious activity in the days leading up to the grisly discovery.
"Anybody who lives in this neighborhood who has seen or heard anything regarding anything out of the ordinary in the last several days is urged to call us," Col. James Bradford said in a brief press conference held Monday.
