Senate President Andy Gardiner Wednesday told fellow senators he hopes to have a state budget for next year finished and ready for a vote by next Friday.
Gardiner laid out some program notes during the brief floor session, among them that they’ll next meet this Friday at 9 a.m.
He then said he hoped that he and House Speaker Steve Crisafulli will put the finishing touches on the budget the following Monday, have budgets “on the desks” and vote on Friday.
The 20-day special session had been scheduled to last through next Saturday.
He said there will be another floor session next Monday at 9 a.m., mentioning that point for senators concerned about “travel plans” over the weekend.
“It won’t be just about getting together,” he said. “We will be doing business, so please plan accordingly.”
