HUDSON - A 60-year-old man was fatally Friday injured when his vehicle crossed into opposing traffic and struck another vehicle head-on, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The identity of the wrong-way driver who died was not released. The crash took place at about 5:53 p.m. on State Road 52 near Zimmerman Road.
The 60-year-old was driving a 1999 Toyota Rav4 crossover east on S.R. 52, just west of Zimmerman Road, according to the Highway Patrol.
Dominic Valentino, 64, of New Port Richey, was headed west on S.R. 52 in a 2015 Ford F-150 pick-up truck. Riding with him was Denise Valentino, 63.
Then for unknown reasons, troopers said the Toyota crossed over the center median and entered westbound S.R. 52 traffic, entering the path of the Ford pick-up. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Everyone involved in the crash was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for medical treatment. The 60-year-old driver was later pronounced dead. Both occupants of the Ford were seriously injured.
Everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seatbelts, according to the Highway Patrol.
