Hyde Park Village adds new tenants and markets abound in St. Pete

Tampa shopping destination Hyde Park Village is the trooper of all local retail, chugging steadily along even as road construction made it hard to access. They made it through all that, all the while adding new shops and restaurants, and started a beautification initiative that includes murals from local artists. Now, just in time for the holidays, they've added more tenants, including:
ZaZoo'd: The unique home furnishing and gift store, pictured, that also has a location in downtown St. Pete was given a Best of the Bay Award for "Best Place to Shop for a Gay Wedding or a Beach House or Both." That should give you some idea of what to expect, but since the owners are interior designers, just looking in the window is a treat. zazood.com.

Shapiro's: The longtime St. Pete staple for handmade American fine craft also branches out into the Tampa market. shapirosgallery.com.

Boho Hunter: High-end women's fashions and accessories — surely check out their killer Instagram account. I'm putting the fanny pack on their website on my wish list. bohohunter.com.

I won't stress you out with how many shopping days there are until the holidays hit. Don't fret; here are two major shopping options for you this weekend in St. Petersburg.
Shopapalooza: The event, pictured, lives up to its name, with more than 150 vendors selling a variety of goods, including gourmet foods, art, crafts, apparel and home decor. They'll have activities, like crafts and projects for kids, as well as a Mermaid Zone by women's boutique Cerulean Blu. It happens 10 a.m.-5 p.m. this Saturday, and next, Nov. 25, at South Straub Park, 198 Bayshore Drive NE. shopapaloozafestival.com.

Holiday Gift Market: The Coliseum transforms into a wonderland of shopping Saturday-Sunday, with nearly 100 merchants offering book, candles, jewelry, children's items and even gourmet cooking gadgets. Bring the kids; Santa will be in the building. It's free to attend and runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 535 Fourth Ave. N. (727) 893-8523.
