Huey Lewis and the News music to fuel new stage musical

So it's really hip to be square these days. Rolling Stone reports that a new stage musical is in the works based on the music of Huey Lewis and the News.

The musical will be called Heart of Rock and Roll and won't be focused on Lewis himself but rather will use his music to power the original story. Songs expected to appear in the production include Power of Love, Hip to be Square and If This Is It.

Sound familiar? That's because the upcoming Go-Go's Head Over Heals musical is using the same formula.

The singer announced the musical today in a short online video that co-starred late night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel.

Few other detail of the musical have been released, other than it will be directed by Gordon Greenberg, with the book by Jonathan Abrams and based on an original story he co-wrote with Tyler Mitchell.
