GAINESVILLE — Former Jesuit High star Malik Davis is "coming along well" from knee surgery, but the Gators still aren't ready to talk about when he'll be fully available to the team.
"I don't know right now," running backs coach Greg Knox said Thursday when asked about the level of Davis' availability for spring ball. "That will be left up to our trainer, how they see his progression coming along from the surgery and everything, so we'll just play it day by day with him."
Knox said Florida is trying to get Davis' weight up, but he remains limited with some agility workouts. Knox said he'll rely on the training staff to update him on Davis' rehab as it leads into the fall.
Davis left Jesuit as Hillsborough County's all-time leading rusher. He made a big impact last fall as a true freshman at UF (526 yards, two touchdowns) before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Georgia.
