A cold front that produced damaging weather in Polk County and is crippling the Southeast has passed to the south, leaving gusty winds and cool temperatatures for the Tampa Bay area today.
Sustained northwesterly winds in Tampa are 20 mph this morning, and some areas are seeing gusts of up to 30 mph, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
That wind will help clear the lingering coulds by noon, but after a chilly morning, temperatures will struggle to inch into the lower-60s under mostly sunny skies.
Lows tonight will drop to the low-40s.
A pleasant Valentine’s Day is ahead, with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper-60s.
The front may have damaged at least 17 mobile homes on Wednesday night, primarily in Polk County, and customers from Duke Energy, Tampa Electric and Lakeland Electric experienced power outages.
