Scattered showers and thunderstorms are headed south to the Tampa Bay area overnight, and there should be some rain after 2 a.m. Tuesday. The Nature Coast is forecast to get more thunderstorms than areas to the south.

The chance of rain is 50 percent, but the forecast rainfall amounts are less than a tenth of an inch. There might be higher amounts in area that get thunderstorms.

For Tuesday, the area will see showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., then scattered showers and thunderstorms for the remainder of the evening. The chance of rain is 80 percent with the rainfall amounts ranging from a quarter to half inch.

There will be some strong winds also, with a west-southwest breeze at 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Once the front passes from the north on Tuesday afternoon, cooler air will arrive. Highs on Tuesday will reach 75, and only 73 on Wednesday with mostly sunny skies.

A gradual warming trend will take temperatures back to the low-80s heading into the weekend.
