Today is the first day of spring and, fittingly, showers will prevail throughout the day – with pockets of heavy rain possible ahead of another quick cool-down.
A front has stalled over the Tampa Bay region, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said, resulting in muggy conditions and a 50 percent rain chance. Temperatures will range to the mid- to upper-70s today.
But a cold front will push to the south tonight, clearing skies overnight but dropping temperatures to the upper-40s to low-50s.
The front will keep Thursday’s high to the upper-60s to low-70s under sunny skies and northerly winds, with lows dipping to the upper-40s.
Temperatures will gradually warm through the weekend, approaching 80 by Saturday, but with increased rain chances.
