Reduced rain chances as cold front approaches Tampa area

Published:   |   Updated: May 23, 2013 at 06:01 AM

An approaching cold front will bring drier air to the Tampa Bay area, meaning fewer severe afternoon thunderstorms today and a sunny, pleasant Memorial Day weekend.

After morning fog burns off in some areas, highs will reach the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.

Lows tonight will drop to the upper-60s to low-70s.

The cold front will move into the area on Friday, leading to reduced humidity, sunny skies and comfortable highs approaching 90.
