A cold blast has hit the Tampa Bay area with brisk northerly winds and highs that will be about 15 degrees below normal.
Highs will only reach the mid-50s today under partly cloudy skies, and will feel much colder thanks to winds that will gust up to 30 mpy at times, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
There is a High Surf Advisory and Rip Current Advisory for most Tampa area counties until 1 p.m., and a Small Craft Advisory until 7 p.m.
Lows tonight will be upper-30s to low-40s.
The cold blast won’t last long, though, as highs return into the ‘low-70s Saturday and the upper-70s on Sunday before another cold spell to start the work week.
