Lingering cold front brings clouds, rain to Tampa area

Clouds will build today and rain chances increase this afternoon as a weakening cold front drifts over the Tampa Bay area.

The lingering front will produce a 40 percent of scattered showers later today, with highs approaching 80, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.

Lows tonight will be in the low-60s.

Highs again will be near 80 on Tuesday, but temperatures will cool into the low-50s Tuesday night, and rain chances bump up to 50 percent on Wednesday.
