MIAMI – Hurricane Humberto is likely to begin weakening soon far out over the Atlantic.

Humberto is centered about 630 miles (1014 kilometers) northwest of the Cape Verde Islands and is moving north-northwestward at 12 mph (19 kph).

Meanwhile, Gabrielle remains a tropical storm but is expected to weaken as it moves north-northeastward after drenching Bermuda. The storm’s maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (64 kph).

Also Thursday, a tropical depression has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph). It is expected to dump 10 to 15 inches of rain over a large part of eastern Mexico with 25 inches in some places.
