The Tampa Bay area gets another great beach day but it is going to be hot so be sure to stay hydrated and don’t spend too much time in the sun. Some inland areas might see 100 degrees.
To blame is high pressure over the west coast that will keep the temperatures in the upper 90s. There is a possibility of mid-90s along the coast and the upper 90s further inland, according to the National Weather Service. Areas in Polk County could see temperatures reach 100 at Lakeland-Linder Airport and Bartow.
Today will be sunny with a high near 94, but be careful because heat index values as high as 102. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 77.
For Monday there will be isolated showers and thunderstorms about 2 p.m. but the day will be mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Again, the heat index will be near 102. The chance of rain is 20 percent.
There is a slight chance of rain for Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the low 90s and lows in the mid-70s.
But, the conditions for rain return for the weekend with a 50 percent chance of rain on Friday and Saturday.
