Heat continues for Tampa; Arthur to head north

The Tampa Bay region will see minimal impact from Tropical Storm Arthur, which continues to hover off Florida’s east coast before heading north and skirting the Carolinas by Thursday.

Locally, highs today will reach the low-90s, with plenty of humidity and the possibility of typical afternoon thunderstorms as the counter-clockwise winds from Arthur wrap around the state, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.

Arthur could strengthen into a hurricane, but still remain off the coast approaching the Fourth of July.

Rain chances will remain around 40 percent on Thursday and 50 percent on Friday.
