If you have outdoor plans in the Tampa Bay area today, hopefully they’re early.
Storms are expected to develop throughout the area this afternoon, beginning around lunch time, with the heaviest rains expected to fall around 4 p.m., WFLA meteorologist Bryan Bennett said.
The heaviest afternoon storms could bring as much as three inches of rain to some areas, where the ground is already saturated. There will also be a high chance of lightning strikes.
Inland areas will see more storm activity than the coast, Bennett said.
But, “if you’re getting out there this morning and mow the lawn or head to the beach, it will be a little cloudy with some filtered sunshine, but you should be good,” Bennett said.
Skies should clear up again by around 8 p.m.
The afternoon high today will be around 90 degrees.
