What could be a better Mother's Day gift than dry weather with cool mornings to start the week?
Mother's Day will be humid today, with the highs reaching the low 80s. There is a chance of rain, more likely inland, so a trip to the beach should be rain free for most of the Tampa Bay area. Lakeland and interior sections were seeing some rain around noon.
Even tonight the temperatures start to fall with a high of 84 forecast for 6 p.m., but that should drop to 73 by 9 p.m., according to Jeremy Eisenzopf, meteorologist at News Channel 8.
Great weather is coming to start the week with the morning lows in the 60s for Monday and Tuesday, then the mid-60s Wednesday through Friday. The high each day should be in the mid-80s.
The week also will remain dry with the only chance of rain a 20 percent likelihood on Saturday.
The next few nights and early mornings will be cooler, and the lows might even reach the 50s on the Nature Coast as a cold front slides down from north, according to Jeremy Eisenzopf, meteorologist at News Channel 8. The Tampa Bay area could see some record lows on Monday, he added.
Earlier today, the Florida Highway Patrol had closed Interstate 75 in both directions this morning from Gibsonton Drive in Riverview south to the Skyway Bridge due to fog.
