Dry air means less rain, higher heat for Tampa area

Afternoon storms are being replaced with afternoon heat as dry air takes over today in the Tampa Bay area.

The dry air means sunny skies and reduced moisture that will drive highs today to 93, with only a 20 percent chance of rain, News Channel 8 meteorologist Bryan Bennett said.

Some areas in the southern Tampa Bay area could see slightly higher rain chances today.

The dry conditions will remain through Tuesday, before rain chances climb on Wednesday.
