After another dreary, drizzly morning, Tampa Bay area residents can shed their sweaters and rain gear and prepare for an ideal weekend.
Light rain and mist continues to stream in off the Gulf, with pockets of heavier rain possible in some areas under gray skies, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Span said.
The showers will continue into the morning from an area of low pressure along a stalled cold fron to the south. But rain chances decrease later this morning and the clouds will begin to break this afternoon, helping temperatures climb to near 70 with breezy winds from the north and east.
Lows will only drop to near-60.
The region finally will get relief from this cold, damp week on Saturday as highs will climb past 80 under partly cloudy skies. The warmer weather will extend into the start of the work week.
