A cold start will quickly give way to warmer temperatures today as more seasonal temperatures will return for the start of 2013.
A jacket will definitely required early today, with lows in the low- to mid-40s throughout the Tampa Bay area under dry conditions, Storm Team 8 meteorologist Megan Hatton said.
But temperatures will climb into the 50s quickly this morning and to the low-70s by this afternoon under mostly sunny skies.
Pleasant conditions will prevail heading into the New Year. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s and 50s with areas of patchy fog by daybreak.
Fans attending the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium on New Year's Day can expect highs in the mid-70s under sunny skies.
Highs will remain in the mid-70s through the week, before a slow-moving cold front results in increased rain chances and highs in the low-70s starting Friday and into the weekend, Hatton said.
