Today’s weather outlook in the Tampa Bay area: more of the same.
That means hot and muggy with the likelihood of scattered heavy thunderstorms this afternoon, the same summer pattern residents have dealt with all week.
Lows will be in the mid- to upper 70s, with the temperature quickly rising into the low 90s by mid-afternoon.
By about 3 p.m., east winds will begin carrying storms toward the Gulf coast and the Tampa Bay area, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Much like the rest of this week, some of the thunderstorms have the potential for damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain chances today are at 40 percent, Spann said.
