It’s your life

If you’ve thought about creating a legacy for your heirs but don’t know how to begin, consider taking a popular eight-week, noncredit course at Hillsborough Community College’s South Shore campus in Ruskin. It starts Friday at 10 a.m.

Joan Shalleck will help you develop family stories about your life your heirs will actually read using literary devices that make your life experiences more interesting. You’ll travel back in time as you recall childhood, career choices, travel, romance and more. Call the Lifelong Learning Line at (813) 259-6010 for more information and to register.

Kudos, bridge players

Congratulations to Sun City Center Duplicate bridge members Ronda O’Farrell and Evelyn Evans who, at the recent Tampa Regional ACBL sanctioned bridge tournament, won the AX pairs and more than 27 gold points, an amazing accomplishment since there were 79 tables in play. The two women competed and won against 157 other pairs.

Lunch, fashions and more

The Sun City Center Art Club will host a fashion show and luncheon at Community Hall, 1910 Pebble Beach Blvd. S., on Saturday, Jan. 25. Janet Carr of Accessories and More in Sarasota will provide the fashions and Mary Stewart Catering will provide the food, which will include a large Ruskin tomato filled with Waldorf chicken salad, mixed green salad, mini muffins, key lime pie, coffee and tea. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for shopping; lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.; and the fashion show will follow. The theme is Hats Off to Fashion, and everyone is encouraged to wear a hat.

Tickets are $20 per person and available at the Atrium kiosk on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will also include silent auction items, an art display and an assortment of raffle items. Tables are set for 10 and may be reserved by calling Marsha Lucidi at (813) 938-5100.

Free golf cart inspections

The SCC Security Patrol will provide free, golf cart inspections and registrations for all Sun City Center and Kings Point residents at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 701 Valley Forge Blvd., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 23-25. Patrol members will check your cart’s tire condition, reflectors, turn signals and horn, and then affix a registration sticker to help the patrol identify your golf cart in the event that it’s lost or stolen.

Event sponsors include SCC Community Association, Kings Point and Freedom Plaza; Sun Towers, Publix and Winn Dixie; Sun City Golf & Cars, AAA Golf Carts, Allstate Insurance Weissman Agency and Wells Fargo.
