SUN CITY CENTER – Purposely waiting until the snowbirds returned North to cater to year-round residents, Freedom Plaza held it’s 10th Annual Health & Wellness Fair at the tower on June 4. More than 300 participants turned out for a variety of health screenings and information on healthy living from 41 exhibitors.

Nearly every health concern or wellness opportunity was highlighted at this year’s health fair, including balance and physical fitness, sight, hearing, osteoporosis, diabetes, body mass index, orthopedics, chiropractic care, Alzheimer’s and even hydro-kinetic therapy.

Several vendors checked visitors’ blood pressure and oxygen saturation, while another treated participants to a relaxing chair massage. For those interested in fitness alternatives, conditioning or rehabilitation, one vendor provided instruction on the use of hydro bells and shakers filled with water to demonstrate how seniors can safely do weight-bearing exercise with minimal stress on the joints.

Visitors received goody bags and numerous door prizes were given throughout the four-hour event.
