SUN CITY CENTER – United Community Church is fortunate to have an official woman’s organization and blessed with three circles of women who individually voted for their choice of Woman of the Year. Paula Lickfeldt was their overwhelming choice. Here is why.
Paula has been an active volunteer on the Sun City Center Emergency Squad for 10 years. She started as an emergency medical responder and was the squad’s lead first responder for two years, where she was responsible for the communication between first responders and the board. Since passing the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course four years ago, Paula has been driving the wheelchair van.
She has been a leader on the board of directors of her Red Hat group, the Purple Butterflies, helping to plan and execute all of its monthly activities and travel. She also is an active member of the GFWC Sun City Center Woman’s Club.
Paula loves going to garage sales and estate sales, carries a list and finds items her friends say they are looking for. She also finds items of value for the United Community Church and the missions it supports.
As an active member of United Community Church, her activities include:
* Three terms as a deacon
* Support responsibility for all memorial services
*Membership on the annual Nominating Committee
* Membership on the Mission Board
* Publicity and photography for the church
* Co-chairwoman of the Fantastic Friday dinner theater
* Creator and organizer of the Fun Brigade
* Planting and maintaining the flower garden
* Membership on the Church Council
Paula says she loves the church for what it represents and for the opportunities it provides for the Sun City Center community to worship, find companionship and have a good time. She is a beautiful, yet private light for those in need. She is a beacon of light, moonlight, sunshine and our star.
