Strawberry Festival stages affordable concerts

PLANT CITY — If you want a bargain on a ticket to see a top entertainer, look no farther than the Florida Strawberry Festival.

The most expensive reserved seats are $55 for hot country act Rascal Flatts. Reserved seats for the other shows are as low as $15, depending on artist and location.

“We’re known for our low prices. People tell us all the time that they paid twice as much to see the same entertainer somewhere else,” festival General Manager Paul Davis said.

And the best part of all is that it doesn’t cost anything to sit in the festival grandstand. You’re farther away from the Wish Farms Soundstage, but two video screens help fans get a closer look.

There are about 2,700 grandstand seats available for each show on a first-come, first-seated basis. The seating is available beginning one to two hours before each concert.

Festival entertainment chairman Joe Newsome and Davis say the festival keeps its prices low by seeking just to break even — covering the cost of bringing in the acts and related expenses. The festival is spending about $1.7 million on headline entertainers this year.

Tickets can be purchased online here, at the festival main ticket office at 2209 W. Oak Ave. or by telephone at (813) 754-1996. Concert tickets do not include gate admission.
