CRYSTAL RIVER - CRYSTAL RIVER - The Greater Hudson Senior Softball All-Stars played like morning people Saturday morning.

After losing Friday night, 12-10, to Central Citrus, Hudson came back to down Shady Hills 9-2 at Harley Levins Field during the District 15 Little League All-Star Tournament.

"Today, our pitching was better, our hitting came around," said Hudson's Debbie Hatcher. "The fielding was better. Maybe, we are better in the morning."

It was a game that also served as a reunion for many of the players as both squads featured players from the Hudson High softball team.

Hudson's Jess Mattos pitched four innings to pick up the victory, while Shady Hills' Melanie McKinney was the losing pitcher.

Hudson scored two runs in the first inning and five in the second, including a two-run single in the second by Paige Winters.

Mattos scored two runs and had an RBI in the game. Chelsea Hatcher also scored two runs for Hudson.

"We lost our game, but we played to the best of our ability," said Shady Hills manager Kenny Cole.

CENTRAL CITRUS 12, GREATER HUDSON 10, FRIDAY NIGHT: Emily King doubled in two runs and scored on a throwing error to give the Central Citrus Senior Softball All-Stars a comeback win.

The victory at Harley Levins Field went to Dani Warnack, who scored two runs and was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Hudson's Jess Mattos took the pitching loss and teammate Chelsea Hatcher had a two-run triple.

In the seventh inning, Ashley Saunders hit a two-run double, Warnack had an RBI single and King's two-run double gave Central Citrus the lead.

Central Citrus cranked out 11 hits to Hudson's 10.

"We started strong and got a little conservative," said Hudson manager Debbie Hatcher. "We were celebrating before the game was won. We were up four runs and we thought we had it. They came back. It happens. You can't take anyone lightly."
