Largo Earns Easy Win Against Clearwater

CLEARWATER -- It was a Kickoff Classic, but a rivalry once known as Pinellas County's biggest proved to be no contest as Largo romped to a 49-8 victory.Published: August 30, 2008
The Packers jumped to an early 14-0 lead as Marcel Durham returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. They then doubled their lead on their first play from scrimmage, as Ryan Eppes hit Mike Lang with an 87-yard touchdown pass.
Clearwater cut the margin to 14-8 when Nick Gimbrone connected with Nick Halenkamp on a 27-yard touchdown pass. But Largo added two second quarter scores to pull away.
Packer quarterback Eppes, a transfer from Countryside, had a strong game, both passing and running. He hit Sean Holte for a 60-yard third-quarter score. Eppes also ran six times for 83 yards.
