Orlando soccer fans suspended after St. Pete arrests

Published:

Orlando’s incoming Major League Soccer team is suspending four fans from its games until legal proceedings are settled following their arrests during a recent game against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in St. Petersburg.

Orlando City Soccer Club founder president Phil Rawlins announced the sanctions in an open letter posted on the team’s website Wednesday.

The action comes after Orlando fans were arrested following an incident during the Lions’ game at Al Lang Stadium last Sunday.

Fans from two Orlando City support groups are accused of starting fights with Rowdies supporters.

Rawlins apologized on behalf of the team and said two Orlando groups involved have been indefinitely suspended until they agree to the new MLS fan code of conduct, which is being distributed to all fans.

Orlando City joins MLS in 2015.
