The Rays announced Tuesday that a limited number of tickets remain for Monday’s season opener against the Blue Jays at Tropicana Field. David Price and R.A. Dickey, the 2012 Cy Young winners, will face each other.

Tickets also remain for the remaining six games on the homestand that includes three games with the Rangers. The Rays have sold out their past eight home openers.

March madness

Not sure if this would have counted in the NCAA tournament, but CF Desmond Jennings made the shot of the month Tuesday morning on the small basketball court in the Rays’ clubhouse. Jennings took a bounce pass from INF Sean Rodriguez and, with the outside of his shoe-less right foot, kicked it into the net that hangs about 7 feet above the floor. No glass or rim. Nothing but net.

May the force

The Durham Bulls will wear jerseys resembling R2-D2 of “Star Wars” fame on May 4 when they celebrate their annual “Star Wars Night.” That date was picked because May 4 is kind of a pun on the famous line: “May the force be with you.”
