Rays Triple Play: The first game arrives

Published:   |   Updated: February 28, 2014 at 07:52 AM

The Rays open their 29-game Grapefruit League schedule at 1:05 p.m. today at Charlotte Sports Park against the Orioles. Here is the projected lineup: David DeJesus LF, Yunel Escobar SS, James Loney 1B, Evan Longoria 3B, Matt Joyce DH, Wil Myers RF, Desmond Jennings CF, Jose Molina C, Logan Forsythe, 2B. LHP Erik Bedard will be the starting pitcher.

The first pitch

Army Sgt. First Class Kyle Margelofsky, the officer in charge of the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team that will deliver the American flag and the first ball this afternoon, will throw out the first pitch. Margelofsky has been deployed 10 times — six tours in Iraq and four in Afghanistan. He has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, the Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart.

Let's see that again

Rays manager Joe Maddon would like Dan Hartman's 1978 disco hit “Instant Replay” played on the video screen at Tropicana Field this season when plays are being reviewed.
