Rays looking to sweep Cubs with win this afternoon

CHICAGO – The Rays go for this sweep this afternoon at Wrigley Field during the finale of this three-game series with the Cubs.

RHP Alex Cobb takes a personal five-game winning streak into the game.

Manager Joe Maddon is going with a nearly all-right-handed lineup against Cubs southpaw Travis Wood. 1B James Loney is the lone lefty in the lineup.

Maddon has Sean Rodriguez in left field and hitting cleanup, a move that pushes 3B Evan Longoria to third in the order.

Maddon is hoping Longoria can perk up a bit with the new slot in the order. Longoria is 4-for-21 on the this trip with a home run, a double and three RBI. He doubled in the first run in Saturday’s 4-0 victory.

Perhaps the biggest news of the day is Rays play-by-play TV man Dewayne Staats will sing “Take me out to the Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch. This will be the second time Staats will perform the Wrigley Field tradition. A former broadcaster for the Cubs, Staats also sang during the 2003 season.

“I don’t expect good reviews,” Staats said.

Here is the Rays lineup:

Zobrist RF

Longoria 3B
