Rays looking to extend winning streak

TORONTO – The Rays are looking to extend their winning streak to three games and move to within one game of a .500 record today during an afternoon tilt against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

Jeremy Hellickson will face lefty Mark Buehrle. And because the Rays are facing the lefy Buehrle, manager Joe Maddon is running out an all right-handed hitting line.

Catcher Jose Molina returns after missing four games with a sore left knee.

According to Elias, Drew Smyly and Alex Cobb are first starters in Rays history to win consecutive starts while allowing two or fewer hits in each game. Cobb did it Thursday against the Tigers. Smyly did it Friday night when he threw his first complete-game shutout in an 8-0 win against the Blue Jays.

The Rays begin the afternoon 6.5 games behind the Mariners for the second Wild Card spot in the American League.
