The Rays optioned infielder Ryan Roberts to Triple A Durham today to clear a spot on the roster for David Price.

Price, on the disabled list since May 16 because of a strained left triceps, will be activated today and start tonight's game against the Astros.

Roberts, sent down to Durham in June when the Rays recalled right fielder Wil Myers, hit two home runs and had three hits Monday in the Rays 12-0 win against the Astros.

He was recalled Saturday after third baseman Evan Longoria suffered a tear in the plantar fascia tissue in his right foot.

Sending Roberts back to Durham is a good indication the Rays believe Longoria is close to rejoining the lineup.
