Longoria pitches reading at Seminole Heights library

Published:

Evan Longoria clapped, fist-pumped and urged on those around him Tuesday — to read, this time, not to hit. The Tampa Bay Rays third baseman entertained kids at the Seminole Heights Library in Tampa with the children’s book “Dino Baseball,” featuring Apatosaur and the plant-eating team Green Sox. For the second year, Longoria is spokesperson for “Reading with the Rays — Read Your Way to the Ballpark.” The program encourages children to spend 24 hours reading during the summer months while participating libraries across the Tampa Bay area track their progress toward prizes — including free tickets to a Rays game.
