PHOENIX – The Rays placed center fielder Desmond Jennings on the 15-day disabled list late Monday night and recalled outfielder Jason Bourgeois from Triple A Durham.

Jennings sustained a small fracture on his left middle finger during Saturday’s night’s victory against the Giants.

Outfielder Sam Fuld, Jennings’s backup in center field this season, will likely take over the position until Jennings returns.

Bourgeois hit .291 with a .336 on-base percent for the Bulls. He had 21 stolen base, 14 doubles, 57 RBI and 48 runs scored.

Bourgeois, 31, has spent parts of the last five seasons in the big leagues with the White Sox, Brewers, Astros and Royals. He has a .261 average and a .306 on-base percentage.

He spent the 2011 season with the Astros, hitting .294 with 31 stolen bases in 93 games.
