Tampa Bay Rays fans who might not be able to get to Port Charlotte for spring training workouts can get a sense of the atmosphere through the eyes of Wil Myers.
The Rays’ right fielder took batting practice Wednesday with a GoPro Hero3+ camera strapped to the bill of his cap, and member of the Rays video staff watched what Myers was seeing nearby on an iPhone.
The three-minute video was posted on the Rays’ website and documents Myers’ typical routine, including batting practice, workouts, and simple acts such as talking with teammates in the locker room, on the field and in the dugout.
Myers clearly had fun with the experience, coming up on teammates and telling them “not to do anything stupid” since their moves were being recorded.
“It was pretty cool,” Myers said. “It didn’t affect anything. It didn’t fall off, which was good. I think it’s a cool thing to put online just to see what it’s like, a day in spring training.”
