Tonight’s Hillsborough Prep Matchups

Plant (7-1-1, 4-0) at Alonso (5-3, 2-2): Plant secured its ninth consecutive district championship last week with a 46-13 win against Wharton. Alonso needs a win to force a possible tiebreaker for the district runner-up spot in 8A-6.

Armwood (8-0, 7-0) at Chamberlain (4-5, 4-3): The Hawks, ranked No. 77 in the most recent Rivals Top 100, have clinched the district title but still need to stay focused against Chamberlain, which took Jefferson down to the wire last week.

Jefferson (7-1, 6-1) at Blake (2-7, 2-5): Deiondre Porter’s last-second heroics helped the Dragons’ playoff aspirations last week against Chamberlain. Jefferson will advance as the district runner-up, even with a loss tonight.

Wharton (6-3, 2-2) at Bloomingdale (5-3, 3-1): Wharton needs a win to force a tiebreaker for the district runner-up spot in 8A-6. Bloomingdale needs a win to secure the second playoff appearance in school history. The game is at Bloomingdale, but Wharton is 3-1 on the road this season. Hold on tight, this is going to be a battle.

Plant City (6-2, 2-1) at Brandon (3-5, 0-3): Landon Galloway and the Raiders simply refused to lose last week by staying in the playoff race with a 41-14 win against Strawberry Crest.

Durant (3-6, 1-2) at East Bay (6-3, 2-1): Some teams are more capable of winning than their records would indicate. Durant is one of those teams, having proved that with a 32-30 win against Hillsborough last week. East Bay held on to beat Brandon, 22-21, last week and needs a win to stay in the playoff hunt in 7A-8.

Steinbrenner (3-5, 2-2) at Gaither (4-4, 3-1): Steinbrenner held on for a 17-15 win against Freedom last week to keep slim postseason chances alive. Gaither pulled an upset over Tampa Bay Tech, 14-10, last week to force a tie for second place. All will be settled tonight in Class 7A-District 7.

Robinson (4-5, 4-4) at Hillsborough (5-3, 5-2): After starting the season 0-4, the Knights have won four of their past five. The Terriers are coming off a 32-30 loss to Durant, which snapped a five-game win streak.

Leto (0-9, 0-8) at King (5-4, 3-4): Leto is coming off a 68-0 shutout loss to Lennard and has scored just 16 points this season. King, which started the season 3-0, has lost three of its last four games.

Lennard (1-8) at Spoto (1-7): Lennard earned its first win of the season last week with a 68-0 shutout of Leto. Spoto also earned its first victory of the year, a 24-0 win against Middleton, which secured a playoff berth.

Middleton (2-6, 0-1) at Jesuit (5-3, 1-0): Middleton needed a win last week to secure a playoff berth, but lost to Spoto, 24-0. Now, Middleton is in a must-win situation against Jesuit, a team on a four-game win streak.

Riverview (2-6, 0-4) at Newsome (4-5, 1-3): The Sharks and Wolves are out of the playoff hunt. Riverview is coming off a 42-13 loss to Alonso while Newsome saw its playoff hopes dashed in a 24-10 loss to Bloomingdale.

Tampa Bay Tech (6-2, 3-1) at Sickles (7-1, 4-0): Tampa Bay Tech lost to Gaither last week, 14-10, putting the Titans in a must-win situation to make the playoffs in Class 7A-District 7. Sickles defeated Wiregrass Ranch 35-7 last week to remain undefeated in district play.

Berkeley Prep (3-4, 1-3) at Frostproof (7-2, 3-1): Berkeley Prep earned its first district win last week with a 51-7 performance against Bishop McLaughlin. Frostproof will advance as the district runner-up in 3A-4, having defeated Lakeland Christian and Fort Meade.

Canterbury (6-2, 3-2) at Cambridge Christian (4-4, 2-3) at Skyway Park: Canterbury and Cambridge Christian are eliminated from the playoff hunt. Canterbury is coming off a 29-22 win against Northside Christian, while the Lancers lost to Carrollwood Day, 40-20.

Northside Christian (3-5, 2-3) at Carrollwood Day (6-3, 3-1): Northside Christian is coming off a 29-22 loss to Canterbury, while CDS clinched a playoff berth with a 40-20 win over Cambridge Christian.

Wiregrass Ranch (3-5, 0-4) at Freedom (1-7, 0-4): James Jackson caught a 24-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to avoid a shutout to Sickles last week. Freedom, meanwhile, is coming off a tough 17-15 loss to Steinbrenner.

Bishop McLaughlin (2-6, 0-4) at Tampa Catholic (7-1, 4-0): Bishop McLaughlin fell to Berkeley Prep, 51-7, last week, while Tampa Catholic shut out Lakeland Christian 41-0 to claim the Class 3A-District 4 championship.
