Hillsborough senior WR Evan Jennings, the Terriers' leading receiver last season, signed a letter-of-intent with Fort Hays State, a Division II school in Hays, Kan., Terriers coach Earl Garcia said.
Garcia also announced that QB Tarean Austin, Hillsborough's all-time leading passer, has left New Mexico following the ouster of coach Mike Locksley last fall, and has transferred to Fort Hays.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Jennings was a two-year starter for Hillsborough, and last season he had 24 receptions for 334 yards and three touchdowns. As a junior, he had 16 catches for 335 yards and three TDs.
Austin graduated from Hillsborough in 2009. His senior year, he threw for 2,157 yards and 20 TDs and had a quarterback rating of 109. He earned playing time as a freshman at New Mexico and started two games.
Also, Jesuit's Aaron Paulsen has signed with Stetson, which is restarting its football program in 2013 after a 57-year hiatus. That should work out particularly well for Paulsen, who tore his ACL in the third game of the season and has been working hard since his surgery to rehabilitate the injured knee.
Paulsen said he has been recruited as an athlete by Stetson coach Roger Hughes and will likely play slot receiver.
