Noah Johnson, Armwood
WHY WE CHOSE HIM: The junior quarterback threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD in last week’s victory against Springstead. The Hawks play in the 6A state semifinals Friday against St. Johns Bartram Trail.
COLLEGE PLANS: This is Johnson’s first year as a starter, having played QB, receiver and defensive back last year. Though no schools have officially offered a scholarship, Armwood coach Sean Callahan said nearly every QB he has coached has gone on to play in college.
Brianna Thomas, Tampa Bay Tech
WHY WE CHOSE HER: At the Gateway Thanksgiving Shootout in Kissimmee last week, Thomas, a 6-foot-2 senior center, finished with 45 points, 32 rebounds and five blocks in two games while making the all-tournament team. Thomas is averaging a team-high 18.3 points and 14.1 rebounds this season.
COLLEGE PLANS: Thomas is being recruited by Texas Southern, Francis Marion, Jacksonville and Kennesaw State.
