Sometimes, everything just clicks. That was the case Friday night in the Class 2A-District 9 final at Bishop McLaughlin.
Top-seeded Tampa Prep dominated every aspect of the game as the Terrapins defeated Indian Rocks Christian 2-0 to earn a home game in Thursday's region quarterfinals against Bradenton St. Stephen's, which lost to Sarasota Out-of-Door 2-1 in 2A-10.
"I was very proud of the boys (Friday)," Tampa Prep coach Doug Smith said. "They really played well. We didn't finish all of our chances, but they really played well."
Tampa Prep (15-4-1) got goals from Twain Glaser (28th minute) and Burrell Aaron (32nd) but the final score could have been much worse. The Terrapins outshot Indian Rocks (15-7) 12-1 in the first half and 26-4 in the game.
"(Indian Rocks') keeper came up and did a really good job," Smith said. Kollin Woodbury finished with 12 saves, including multiple point-blank short in the second half.
Most of the game was played in the Tampa Prep end of the field, as every time Indian Rocks was able to get a run, a Terrapin was there to stop it.
"We moved the ball well. We attacked well. We defended well," Smith said.
Tampa Prep goalkeeper Brad Goldsberry didn't get much action as he was only called upon to make two saves
