At Brandon High

BRANDON 7, STEINBRENNER 1

Sophomore left-hander Antonio Velez looked poised as he worked a complete game in leading Brandon over Steinbrenner 7-1 to advance to Wednesday’s quarterfinals. Velez struck out seven, and the Eagles got going offensively in the fourth as three straight singles loaded the bases and two Warriors errors turned into four Eagles runs. Brandon senior Ryan Anderson sealed the win with a three-run home run in the fifth, his third of the season.
