TAMPA — Senior running back Jaylin Vereen ran for three touchdowns, two in the first quarter and one in the fourth, to lead Riverview to a rout of Leto.
Vereen rushed for 79 yards as Riverview relied mainly on its running game to finish off Leto in the Kickoff Classic.
The Sharks opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 35 yard touchdown run from sophomore running back Fred McCoy.
Vereen then ran in for a 3-yard touchdown, making it 14-0 early in the first quarter.
The game started getting out of hand once Keisan Young ran almost the length of the field for a 74-yard touchdown.
After the first half, it was 28-0, with Riverview dominating the game.
However, the Falcons defense came to play and forced four fumbles and recovered all of them. Leto was unable to put any points on the board, though. Meanwhile, Riverview continued to show off its running game, piling on more points. The Sharks added four more rushing touchdowns to close out the game.
