TAMPA - Dave Noyes, an assistant junior varsity football coach at Plant High School, died Sunday at his apartment complex from an apparent fall, a Tampa Police report said.
Noyes, 42, was found by his downstairs neighbor in her patio area after she awoke Sunday morning, the report said. Tampa Fire and Rescue said Noyes, 201 S. Arrawana Ave., was dead at the scene.
The report suggests Noyes fell from the second story area of his stairs onto the lower patio. An investigation is ongoing.
Stephen Hegarty, spokesman for the Hillsborough County school district, said he spoke Monday with Plant High principal Robert Nelson, who confirmed Noyes was a volunteer football coach. Noyes was not employed by the school district, Hegarty said.
Plant head coach Robert Weiner was unavailable for comment early Monday afternoon.
