Plant City 25, Steinbrenner 10

LUTZ — Landon Galloway threw for 187 yards and added another 76 on the ground to lead Plant City to the win at host Steinbrenner.

The senior quarterback’s first two completions went for a combined 70 yards, including a 33-yard strike to Antoine Thompson to put the Raiders up 6-0. He added rushing scores of 23 and 6 yards.

“After the touchdown they started giving up the underneath routes, so I took every curl and hitch they’d give me,” Galloway said. “I dropped back, saw what they gave me and when there wasn’t someone open I’d take off.”

The Warriors fought back midway through the second quarter when Kezio Snelling returned a punt 83 yards to put his squad ahead 10-6.

Plant City also helped Steinbrenner stay in the game by turning the ball over three times and committing 15 penalties for 140 yards.

“We had entirely too many turnovers, penalties and mistakes,” Raiders coach Wayne Ward said. “Steinbrenner did a good job of keeping us off balance, but in the end we have to do better.”
